Doris Skomro

Biography

Monson- Doris L. (Johnson) Skomro, 87, died Tuesday, March 13, 2012 with her family at her side. Born June 5, 1924 in Willimantic, CT to the late Clark and Wilhemena (Jared) Johnson, she has been a longtime resident of Monson. Doris was a nurses aid at the former Palmer Nursing Home for many years. She was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church in Monson. Doris loved to read and play bingo. She enjoyed traveling to the Cape for many family vacations and picnics. In her younger years she loved to dance, especially the Polka.

Doris was pre-deceased by her husband Chester in 2006. She leaves a son John C. Skomro and his companion Dorothy Gustafson of Monson; a daughter Linda M. Skomro of Sebastopol CA,; her loving cat "Sammy" and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday March 19, 2012, beginning at 9:15 from Lombard Funeral Home with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Patrick's Church. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Monson. Visiting hours will be Sunday, March 18, 2012 from 1-4pm at the funeral home.
