Monson-Donald C. Vaill, 90, died suddenly Jan. 3, 2013. Born Feb. 1, 1922 in Monson to the late Arthur and Alice (Carpenter) Vaill, he was a graduate of Monson High School and a lifelong resident here. Donald spent every day enjoying what he loved most, family and farming. He owned/operated the Vaill Farm in Monson his entire life. Donald was a member of the First Church of Monson, Congregational for over 68 years, a member of the Palmer Grange, Day Spring Lodge of Masons, Mass Farm Bureau and 4-H. Donald was an inspiration to many people, teaching by personal example.

Donald leaves his wife of 51 years, Verna (Gracia) Vaill; their children, James Vaill and wife Susan of Monson, Nancie (Vaill) Shay and husband C.J. of Ashland, KY. and Edward Matys and wife Leslie of Woburn; a sister Phila Vaill of Monson; five grandchildren, one great grandson and many nieces and nephews. Donald was predeceased by his siblings Raymond, Stanley and Bernice Vaill. He will be dearly missed by family and friends.

Visiting hours will be held, Tue., Jan. 8, 2013 from 4-7 at Lombard Funeral Home 3 Bridge St. in Monson. A funeral service will be Wed., Jan. 9, 2013 at 11am in the First Church of Monson 5 High St. in Monson. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Donald to the First Church of Monson 5 High St. Monson, MA 01057.
