David W Worth

February 3, 1944 — September 2, 2017

Wales-David W Worth, 73, died on Sept 2 at Harrington Hospital of a cardiac arrest.  He was born to Walter & A. Sylvia(Creelman) Worth and was a lifelong resident of the town of Wales.  David leaves his wife of 21 years Kaye(nee Ziegler),  two daughters Amanda Pascale, her husband Kevin of Brimfield and Rachael Worth of Palmer. A Stepson Justin Rose of Honolulu, Hi and four grandchildren Dillion and Shayne Worth, Austin and Andrea Pascale. He also leaves a sister and brother-in-law, Shirley & Dick  Backofen and a nephew, Fred from Maine. He was predeceased by his daughter Angela Worth.

David proudly served his country in the United States Air Force in Thailand during the Viet Nam Conflict.  He returned to Wales, “the center of the modern universe,” to begin a long and colorful service to the town, working in almost every capacity except Selectmen.  At the time of his death, he was holding a position on the Cemetery Commission, the Historic Committee and the Council on Aging.  David’s presence will be missed at most Selectmen’s meetings and all town meetings where his ever present point of view, though not agreed with by all, will certainly be missed.

David’s working career included working for the Boston & Maine/Providence& Worcester Railroad and as the Highway Superintendent for the town of Wales.  David worked his way up from tailborder to chief and completed over 53 years in the Wales Volunteer fire department.  He was a collector of antiques, old cars, and Wales memorabilia. He fancied himself an expert of Wales history and hosted the local access channel “Upside Down” show for many years, taking calls and “stirring whatever pot was boiling” in town at the time.
David will be missed by his many friends at the Connecticut Trolley Museum and the Connecticut Fire Museum in East Windsor, CT but never more than by his family, friends, and most of the residents in the town of Wales.

A celebration of his life will be held at the town barn/fire department, lower Main Street in Wales on September 16 2017 at 1:00 PM followed by burial in # 4 Cemetery.

Donations can be made to Wales Historic Committee, P O Box 834, Wales, Ma 01081 or to the charity of your choice.
