Daniel W O'Connor

Monson-Daniel W. O’Connor, DB to his family and friends, died October 7, 2024 surrounded by the people he loved. A lifelong resident of Monson, he was born September 27, 1946 the son of Daniel F. and Grace (Golden) O’Connor. A graduate of Monson High School, he attended Franconia College and Western New England College. In 1971 he joined his father in Daniel O’Connor & Sons. Together they spliced and inspected endless cables for ski lifts and amusement rides. In 1981 after his father’s death, he purchased the company from his mother and continued to grow the business, adding tubing lifts, zip lines to the lift inventory and recabling the Roosevelt Island Tramway to its services. His travels for business took him from Thailand to Colombia to Switzerland and every ski area and amusement park in between but his favorite place was his home on Cape Cod. He loved hot rods and car shows. During his career he was a member of the National Ski Area Association where he served on the safety committee. He was also a member of IAPPA and the International Independent Showmen’s Association. He was a past member of Quaboag Country Club, UNICO of Wilbraham and the Orleans Yacht Club. 

He leaves his wife of 53 years Donna Alberici O’Connor, his Scottish Terrier George, three special nieces Carla DaRoza, Mia Blanchard and Alisa Pontrelli, nephew Niko Alberici, sister-in-law Carol Alberici, two special “borrowed” grandchildren Hadley and Xavier Strakele, a brother Tom and sister MaryAnn O’Connor.
