Monson-Conrad S. Chaffee, 73, passed away after a long battle with Parkinson's disease at his home, Saturday June 11, 2022. Conrad was born in Vermont to the late Lawrence Chaffee and Emma Murray. He lived many years in Vermont before moving to this area. Conrad was an independent contractor and did all aspects of construction and building. He enjoyed stained glass restoration and repair on many of the Victorian homes in Springfield. He also did roofing, siding, painting and wall paper. Conrad was a gun safety and reloading instructor. For a period of time he worked as a security guard.
Conrad enjoyed antique cars, boating, camping and the outdoors, car racing, wood working, and pheasant hunting. He was a member of the Springfield Sportsman Club, a pistol and rifle enthusiast and loved his dogs.
Conrad leaves his son, Scott Chaffee and Lisa Sotak of Springfield; a daughter, Wendy Karhan and husband Mark of N. Bennington, VT; two grandchildren, that he was very proud of, Meghan Karhan and Joshua Karhan; a brother Norman Chaffee and Jeanette of VT. He was predeceased by his parents and two sisters, Diane Chaffee and May Chaffee. He will be missed dearly by his family and many close friends he has had over the years. All who knew him have very fond memories of him.
A graveside service will take place in Bennington, VT at the family cemetery.
