Charles J. Manzi

1920-2008

MONSON - Charles J. Manzi, 88, passed away after a brief illness in the presence of his loving family at U-Mass Medical Center in Worcester. He was born in Boston and attended schools in Monson and Avon, CT. He leaves his wife of nearly 56 years, Betty J. (Brosnan) Manzi; two sons Charles A. Manzi and his wife Karen of Warren and Daniel Manzi and friend Linda Gaulin of Wales; three grandchildren Christa, Melissa and Jeremy. He also leaves his sister in-law Albertine Brosnan and many beloved nieces and cousins. He was a WWII Navy Veteran serving for four years in Saipan and Okinawa. He was a member of the Local 108 Carpenters Union in Springfield for 33 years working as a job site supervisor on many of the high rise buildings and bridges around the Springfield and Boston area. He was a former member of the Quaboag Riders Motorcycle Club and local Veteran organizations and a life long RedSox fan Funeral services will be held Monday 9:15 from Lombard Funeral Home 3 Bridge St. with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Patricks Church and burial at Hillside Cemetery all in Monson. Visiting hours will be held Sunday from 3-5pm. Memorial contributions maybe made to The Monson Council on Aging for the benefit of the Monson Senior Center, 106 Main Street, Monson, MA 01057 or to Quaboag Valley VNA and Hospice 42B Wright St. Palmer, MA 01069.
