Brimfield-Carolyn J (Sherby) Porter, 87, died Tuesday, July 19, 2016 surrounded by the love of family. Carolyn was born in Worcester, October 20, 1928 to the late William A and Margaret M (Edwards) Sherby. She was a graduate of the former Worcester Trade School and has lived in Brimfield for more than 45 years. Carolyn worked at Tantasqua Regional High School and Basketville in Sturbridge for many years. She was a communicant of St. Christopher's Church in Brimfield and prior St. Mary's in Brookfield. Carolyn taught CCD classes and was active in the women's groups at church. She loved nature and bird watching, was an avid Patriots and Red Sox fan, she read and wrote poetry, recently she was working on genealogy. She received the most joy from her large family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Carolyn was predeceased by her husband William A. Porter. She leaves her children; William A. Porter Jr and Shoshanna of Springfield, Colleen Short of Saugerties, NY, Sandra Earls and Geoffrey of Brimfield, Patricia Jablonski and Leon of Brimfield, Theresa Muska and Mark of Brimfield, Andrea Frykenberg and Kevin of Brimfield; 19 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Carolyn was predeceased by her siblings William, Thelma, Margaret and Doris.
Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held Friday, July 22, 2016 at 11am in St. Christopher's Church in Brimfield, burial will follow at St. John Cemetery in Worcester. Friends are asked to gather directly at church.
