Carl D Strout

Monson- Carl D. Strout, 80, passed away Saturday, October 12, 2024 surrounded by love of family. Carl was born in Machias, Maine March 17, 1944 to the late Derwood M. and Caroline E. (Austin) Strout. He has been a longtime Monson resident. For over 33 years he was a jet engine tester at Pratt & Whitney/ Wilgoose Labs. After his retirement from Pratt in 2000 he began a second career in 2001 working for the Monson School Department as a van driver. Carl retired in 2013.

Carl enjoyed camping, deer hunting in the northern woods of Maine and NASCAR. He traveled to the Daytona 500 several times as well as other race tracks. He was his grandchildren’s biggest fan and was happy to take part in their many activities.

Carl leaves his wife of 47 years Elaine M. (Carey) Strout; their daughter, Tara S. Parker and her husband David and their children, Noella and Vincent; a sister, Gloria McGraw and her husband Dr. Richard McGraw of Farmington, ME, a niece, Melanie Mulrooney and her husband John; nephew, Dr. Troy Norton and his wife Betsy; his mother in-law, Claire Carey, brothers in-law, Patrick Carey and his wife Maureen, Peter Carey, Paul Carey; many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Services have been entrusted to Lombard Funeral Home 3 Bridge St. Monson. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, October 16th 2024 from 5-7 at the funeral home. A Graveside service will be held Thursday at 11am in Bethany Cemetery located on Bethany Road in Monson.
