Bertha S (Maryniewski) Soltys

Monson-Bertha S. (Maryniewski) Soltys, 99, passed away Sunday, December 22, 2019 surrounded by love 49 days shy of her 100th birthday.  Bertha was born February 9, 1920 in Palmer to the late Karol and Katherine (Kozec) Maryniewski.  She had lived in Monson for many years before residing at LifeCare Center in Wilbraham.  Bertha retired from Monson Developmental Center where she worked in the food service department. She enjoyed helping at her brother's  greenhouses, Maryniski's  Flowers & Greenhouse,  during the holiday season.  She was very proud of her yard and garden where she could often be seen tending her flowers.    Bertha was a faithful communicant of St. Patrick's Church in Monson.

Bertha was predeceased by her first husband, who was the love of her life, Donald Smith and her second husband Stanley Soltys; her brothers, Walter Maryniski and Ted Kozec and her lifelong best friend Doris Butcher.  She is survived by her nieces, Mary O'Brien of Monson and Dorothy Leitch of Norton; nephews, David Maryniski of West Springfield and Ted Kozec Jr. of E. Longmeadow, her great niece, Katie O'Brien-Fuller and her goddaughter, Joyce Butcher Pikul as well as extended family members and friends.

Funeral services will be held Monday, December 30, 2019 at Lombard Funeral Home in Monson.  A visiting hour will begin at 9:30am in the funeral home. Liturgy of Christian Burial will be at 11am in St. Patrick's Church with burial to follow at Bethany Cemetery all in Monson.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project PO Box 758516 Topeka Kansas 66675-8516.
