Benedict Galas

Biography

Benedict F. Galas, 92 a long time resident of Monson, died Wednesday September 22, 2010. Born in Mapleville, RI to the late Frank M. and Mary (Dadaj) Galas he was a graduate of Monson Academy class of 1936, he served in the Army during WWII and then graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst College of Chemical Engineering class of 1951. For many years he worked at General Electric in Pittsfield, he then taught at Pathfinder Regional High School in Palmer. He was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church in Monson and a member of Quaboag Country Club in Monson. After retirement he wintered in Naples, Florida for many years.

Ben was predeceased by his wife Stella (Golas) Galas and his three brothers Mike, Ted and Albion Galas. He leaves his sister Nancy Reynolds of Dover, MA; his dear friend, Betty Martenson; sister in-law Marian Galas of Monson and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
