Barbara Hatch
June 22, 1930 — September 20, 2013
Hampden- Barbara (Dusenberry) Hatch, 83, died Friday, September 20, 2013, surrounded by the love of family. Born in Longmeadow, MA to the late George A. and Harriet S. (Swindlehurst) Dusenberry, she was a graduate of High School of Commerce and a resident of Hampden for many years. Barbara was a member of the Hampden Federated Church for over 63 years. She was also a former member of the YOLA Guild Society at the church. Barbara enjoyed being active with her children and grandchildren as they were growing. Barbara was an excellent homemaker and some of her greatest joy has come from visiting her children and grandchildren. She was a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader as well as a Cub Scout Den Mother. She was also a water safety instructor and was a member of the Springfield Ski Club at Blanford. Barbara was a resident of Port Charlotte, Florida during the winter months and a resident of Alton Bay, NH on Lake Winnipesaukee during the summer months. She enjoyed boating, sailing and swimming at the lake and was and avid reader and bird watcher. She and her husband Rollyn enjoyed traveling and have visited 49 States via their motor home.
Barbara leaves her husband of 63 years, Rollyn H. Hatch and their children; Alan G. Hatch and his wife Tonia of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Marilyn Hatch Mapes and her husband John of Palmer, Alaska, Nancy Owen and her husband Richard of Littleton, NH and Robert C. Hatch and his wife Barbara of Wentworth, NH, ten grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Barbara was predeceased by her two brothers George A. Dusenberry and Warren E. Dusenberry.
Visiting hours will be held at Lombard Funeral Home 3 Bridge St. Monson, MA, Tuesday, September 24, 2013 from 10am-12 noon. A funeral service will be at 12 noon in the funeral home with burial to follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Hampden. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the YOLA Guild Trust Scholarship Fund c/o Hampden Federated Church Main St. Hampden, MA 01036.
