Arnold Papillon

July 11, 1932 — September 7, 2022

Arnold R. “Richard” Papillon, 90, of East Longmeadow, previously of Three Rivers, passed away at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield on September 7, 2022. A son of the late Theodore J. and Geraldine (Fisher) Papillon, he was born on July 11, 1932 in Northampton, MA.  He grew up in Maine, where he attended Portland schools. He proudly served in the US Army during the Korean war, obtaining the rank of SP4.  After being honorably discharged from the US Army, he worked as a laborer on cellophane machines at Federal Paperboard in Thorndike. He retired in 1994 . Richard was an avid BINGO player.

He is survived by several nieces and nephews; Lisa Perrin, James, Ann Marie, and Debrah Ferrar, and Maureen, Michael, Linda, Geraldine, Robert, Brian, and Lynne, along with several more; many great nieces and nephews; and his special friend, Jane Lewicki. Along with his parents, Richie was predeceased by his siblings, Leland, Elizabeth, Marilyn, Jackie, Theodore, Cynthia, and Paul.

Funeral services with Military Honors will be held on Monday, October 17, 2022 at 9:00am  at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, in Agawam. Donations may be made in lieu of flowers to Western Mass food bank, 97 Hatfield Rd. Hatfield, MA 01038.
