Biography

Monson- Ann J. "Nicky" Nichols, 91, died Friday, June 7, 2013. Born in York Run, PA, July 17, 1921 to the late Anthony and Mary (Prushinofska) Michalski. Ann was a graduate of Griffith School of Beauty Culture in Pittsburgh, PA. She has been a long time resident of Monson. Ann owned and operated Nicky's Shoppe located in Monson for 35 years. She was a corporator for Monson Savings Bank and Abilities Unlimited Kamp for Kids. She was a former member of the Palmer Business & Professional Women's Association and a former member of the Monson Polish Women's Organization. She was also a communicant of St. Patrick's Church in Monson. She enjoyed traveling and had the opportunity to meet many celebrities with her husband. Many times she traveled to Pine Needles Lodge and Resort in Southern Pines, NC where her husband Jimmy taught golf teaching sessions. Most importantly she was a devoted Mother, Babcia and Great Babcia.



Ann was predeceased by her husband, Jimmy Nichols, professional one arm golfer, in 1987. She leaves her children, Robert W. Nichols and his wife Linda of Cornelius, NC, MaryAnn Meacham and her husband Robert of Monson; grandchildren James G. Meacham of Provincetown, MA, Robert L. Meacham II of Monson, Scott T. Nichols of Boulder, CO, Bryan C. Nichols of Lowell, NC, Dana Lawing of Mooresville, NC and Tara Byers of Hilliard, Ohio, seven great grandchildren and her sister Leona Vaselenak of Union Town, PA. Ann was predeceased by her brother Anthony Michalski, Jr and a sister Frances Bobincheck.


Funeral Services will be held Wednesday June 12, 2013, beginning at Lombard Funeral Home at 9:15 with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Patrick's Church. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery all in Monson. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday from 5-7pm.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Monson Senior Center, Meals on Wheels Program, Main St. Monson, MA 01057 or to Birch Manor Nursing and Rehab, Residents Fund, 44 New Lombard Rd. Chicopee, MA 01020.
