Alfred "Abe" G. Gola

Monson-Alfred G. "Abe" Gola, passed away, Tuesday, December 31, 2019 surrounded by the love of family at Quabbin Valley Healthcare Center in Athol, MA.  Abe was born in Monson, July 30, 1925 to the late Anthony M. and Caroline (Tomczyk) Gola. He was a lifelong resident of Monson where he graduated from Monson Academy in 1947 and New England Institute of Embalming and Funeral Directing in 1949.  He was a WWII  Army Air Corp Veteran.  Abe retired from the US Post Office where he was a rural carrier in Wilbraham for many years.  Alfred was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church in Monson.  He was a lifetime member of the Monson Polish Club and served as president for many years.  He was a member of the rural carrier association, past member of the Monson Conservation Board, past member of the Monson Fire Department for 22 years and retired as Assistant Chief in 1979.

Alfred was predeceased by his wife Matilda (Kaczmarczyk) in 2012.  He is survived by his daughters, Deborah Gola Taylor of Athol, Rebecca Gola of Rego Park, NY and his son, Anthony Gola of Windsor, MA and several nieces and nephews.  Alfred was also predeceased by his brother John E. Gola and sisters, Sophie Dalton, Delia Authier and Bertha Samkin.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 13, 2020 at Lombard Funeral Home 3 Bridge St. Monson.  A visiting hour will be from 9:30-10:30 in the funeral home .  Liturgy of Christian Burial will be at 11am in St. Patrick's Church 22 Green St also in Monson.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to National Audubon Society 225 Varick St. New York, NY 10014.
