Biography



Brimfield-Adolph "Al" Jurczyk, born July 2, 1938 in Ludlow Mass. Al is survived by three children; Don, his wife Mira and their two children, Katie, her partner Janet and Peter. Al was formerly married to Sandy Jurczyk. They shared a warm friendship with one another and love for their grandchildren, Joseph and Julia. Al is also survived by his sister Joan "Mary", her husband Lawrence Rich, and their children, Jennifer, Larry and Steven.

Al was a member of Monson's close-knit Class of 1956, later graduated from American International and Springfield Colleges, and was a public schoolteacher in Palmer and Wilbraham for 40 years. Al met many through his other varied pursuits ranging from owner-operator of Colonial Construction to charter bus driver who led tours extensively up and down the East Coast and Canada. His love for travel also included destinations in Europe, Brazil and the Philippines. He served Monson as school committee member and three terms as selectman. Al remained interested in community affairs as a resident of Brimfield.

Al devoted his interest in the lives of his children. He was also a lifelong sportsman who enjoyed visiting the seacoast, boating, carpentry, reading, drawing, and trading antiques and collectibles. After retiring from school teaching, Al drove bus in Brookfield and was very proud of the kids and families on his route. Also an avid racing enthusiast, he competed until recently at Stafford Motor Speedway in his #80 D.A.R.E. division car. He wished to publish a book that drew from his professional driving experience to help illustrate safe techniques for beginning drivers.

Al passed quietly in his home after battling a brief illness. His kind, ever thoughtful, and gentle way is going to be missed by his family and friends. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, December 8th at 11am in Lombard Funeral Home 3 Bridge St. Monson, MA. Immediatly following the service the family will hold a reception at St. Patrick's Church fellowship hall, Columbia Hall, located on Green St, where friends and family will have the opportunity for visitation and reflection.
